Canton-i at Ion Orchard is indeed a pretty place. It’s a great place for photo shoots. Miss Glitzy had this burning urge to take an outfit photo there if not for the embarrassed reactions from her reluctant friends.

It was relatively easy to find a table on a busy Saturday afternoon. Canton-i is founded in Malaysia, and it serves Hong Kong cuisine ranging from porridges, noodles, dim sum and desserts.

Miss Glitzy and friends opted for a dim-sum lunch!

(clockwise from top left)

七仙女 Seven Belle tea (with steamed custard bun on the left) $4.00 – Tea didn’t taste great but you get the cheap thrill of seeing the tea flower blossom right in front of you.

香芋流沙奶皇包 Steamed custard bun $4.80 – Disappointing! The custard was not warm…

芝士炬日本番薯 Baked Hokkaido sweet potato pastry $3.80 – This pastry was like some Chinese New Year pastry- think: pineapple tarts. Best eaten warm and strictly for sweet potato lovers!

Fish dumpling with bean curd skin and fish roe $6.80 – This was pricey and tasted quite mediocre. Not recommended.

Shiu Mai (Prawn dumplings) $4.80 – This was the best of the lot because of the very juicy and succulent prawn fillings. Highly recommended to all!

Overall verdict: The standard of the food did not match up with the price and the snazzy interiors. But Miss Glitzy considered Canton-i as Ion Orchard’s Best Kept Secrets because it is one of the few eateries with no waiting queue in the packed shopping mall.
