Nude, neutral hues are making a comeback this season. Remember the pretty nude dresses that Anna Kendrick and Demi Moore wore at the Oscars 2010 Red Carpet?

I have picked out some nude pieces that can be inspirations for our everyday wear:

(Top from left) Badgley Mischka Platinum Label nude beaded tulle ‘Isabella’ v-neck dress US$428.99 – If you want to wear a tight-fitting nude piece, make sure there are embellishments or lace to jazz things up so that you don’t look naked from afar.

Helmut Lang Nude Spray Ombré Silk Dress € 435 – Gentle graduation of colours and soft fabric help to create a feminine and subtle look.

Elizabeth Charles one shoulder dress w belt  US$579.00 – Nude in poplin works too but I would advise adding a statement jewelry to look less boring.

(Bottom from left) ASOS Embellished Tunic US$94.02 – Go grunge with loads of sequins, but balance it out with a dusty sweet blush shade!

Heimstone Kurtis Jacket – Dirty Beige with Golden Studs €344.90 – This baggy light khaki jacket looks like a good casual top with its lovely gold studs and zipper! Match it with shorts or jeans!

Victim Lace Applique Top $ 208.00 – You can be a cool rock chick in the nude and lace combination too.

Tips on wearing nude:

  • For tight-fitting/bodycon dresses in nude shade, make sure that there are other colours or a good mix of texture (with beads, sequins or laces) on the dress. You don’t really want to give the illusion of not wearing anything!
  • For the gentle and feminine look and feel, go for neutral pieces with ruffles or soft fabric.
  • For shoes, it would be nice to opt for a similar nude shade. If not, go for another neutral tone (eg. dusty pink, light khaki, taupe, light grey) or a colour that matches your accessories.
  • You don’t have to be tanned to rock in nude colours, as Anna Kendrick has demonstrated. If you think you look washed out in the colour, pair your nude piece with black or darker neutral tones like brown, navy and gray.
