I like fashion designers who come up with flattering clothes. Not only should they look good on the perfect runway model, but you and I should look like a million bucks when we slip into their designs. One of my all-time favourite designers is Diane von Furstenberg, who popularised the wrap dresses that hug the womanly curves the right way.

I was introduced to Aussie fashion designer Jayson Brunsdon a while ago, and was invited to visit the store at Wisma Atria. Brunsdon started off as a fashion illustrator, and took on other positions such as fashion editor, stylist and creative director before he finally started designing his own label. Prior to the visit, I had a quick look at his SS 2010 lookbook (Autumn/Winter Transeasonal) and couldn’t help but notice how natural and wearable most of his designs appeared to be.

The store decor is contemporary and minimalist, with drawings by Jayson Brunsdon adorned on the wall.

The latest season is very much inspired by the Australian lifestyle, with introduction of resort wear and nautical stripes. What remains characteristic is the fluid shape of some designs, which drapes and accentuates the wearer’s body shape; and the use of plain but elegant colours and fabric.

I have picked out some of my favourite pieces from the collection:

As you can tell, most of the pieces are smart, immaculate and elegant. The choice of fabric and the fluid design added some gentle and sexy vibes.

I also tried out 3 pieces from the store.

Polka Dot Rio Dress ($649) I like this quirky and flattering piece. The asymmetrical open collar adds a tinge of uniqueness. The canvas dress is well-made and rather sturdy. The dress does not restrict any movement so you are allowed to be playful and run around in a carefree manner.

Davis Gown in Blonde ($1559) Gosh, I think I’m ready to take the red carpet! This is a wrap dress and I love how the fabric falls very well on my hips and thighs. The asymmetric collar is a plus to the elegant and understated beauty of the gown.

Cruise top ($319), Sequin Bonsoir Pants ($909) There are quite a number of sequin pieces in the collection and what I like about the sequin pieces is that they are stunning, but never too loud and overwhelming – totally befitting the overall elegant style of Jayson Brunsdon.

If you need a timeless and flattering dress for an important function, do consider Jayson Brunsdon. The clothes size goes up to Australian Size 16, which should fit XL girls.
