Call me the ignorant one, I never knew that there is an elegant restaurant tucked right at the end of Paragon shopping centre. “Before Sir Stamford Raffles discovered Singapore, Cova was founded – in 1817,” my friend remarked in jest.

Cova started off in Milan during the 19th century and today, boast outlets at Hong Kong, Japan, US and Singapore.

The restaurant is split into two parts – the “al-fresco” cafe and the finely-styled tea room.

Very elegant tea room with chandeliers, warm lighting and a massive display of tantalising desserts.

Here’s a glimpse of my dinner – be prepared to spare about S$50 for your meal.

Some of the appetizers were named after composers. The above salad of grilled prawns and rockets is named “Mozart”. The appetizer tasted just fine, but not enough to bring sonata to my ears.

I did not really enjoy my rabbit meat risotto because there was an overdose of balsamic vinegar. As the rabbit meat was shredded, the taste of vinegar engulfed the meat shreds and that was not exactly a pleasant feeling.

The huge slab of cod fish looked delicious and was rather tender.

While dinner at Cova was somewhat a let-down, I really like the ambience of the place. Maybe.. maybe I should revisit the “open-concept” cafe for a slice of delectable chocolate cake.
