Undoubtedly, the highlight of my Italian vacation was my day trip to Capri – an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. This is also the island where the Capri pants was made popular in 1956. Grace Kelly was said to be one of the first to wear capris there.
The island is a popular destination in summer. You can go to Capri via hydrofoil or ferry from Naples, Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi. We went to Capri via Naples.

We took a 2-hour cruise around the island, which included exploring the Blue Grotto, where the water inside the tiny cave is illuminated in blue.
You can also choose to book a private yacht and just laze and sunbathe in the sea!
When we reached the Blue Grotto, we had to change to a small sampan (rowboat) because the opening of the cave is really tiny. That was really thrilling! The cave was so dark and all I could see was bright blue water!
We took the funicolare (tram) up the mountain to Capri town and were treated with a really beautiful view of the island!
Capri town is where shops and restaurants are located. There are many luxury brand shops such as Prada, Ferragamo, Pucci, Hermes etc at the town area. According to my guide book, most of the restaurants on the island are of decent standard. My lunch there was one of my best meals in Italy!
I proceeded to do a walking trek to Arco Naturale, which promises a panaromic view of the island. It was one hell of a trek but it offered a really splendid view of the island and the calm blue sea.
I needed to rest my tired feet in the middle of the trek. Enjoyed lemon juice at a cafe with a sea view.
If you intend to spend the night at Capri, there are many villas on the island. The above picture is the balcony of one of the villas! Imagine waking up to the mountains and the sea!
Capri is also a popular holiday destination for the celebrities. So for all you know, you might spot Brad Pitt jogging in the mountains! Apparently, Jessica Simpson and her beau were there early this month!

The sceneries are breath-taking. Everyone should visit at least once. How is the weather there, compared to ours?

I was mesmerized by the stunningly beautiful sceneries! Staying in one of the luxurious villas and waking up to the mountains and the sea sounds like a small slice of heaven to me. I’d love to go there someday.
