I promised to share my Rockport experience in my previous post. My impression of Rockport was stuck with the ugly men’s shoes at a corner of Royal Sporting House branch. Well, truth to be told, Rockport also make women’s shoes and similar to brands like Geox, Easy Spirit and Naturalizer, they aim to provide comfortable wearing experience in contemporary designs.

My Dark Brown Gerti Moc Shoes (S$149) from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection is built with adiPRENE by adidas, which provides cushion at the sole to ensure comfort. The adiPRENE cushioning absorbs impact in the heel and provides protection to the sole.

Although the leather of the Gerti Moc is quite sturdy, the shoes were comfortable for whole day wear and is perfect for an entire day at work. At the price point of S$129 to S$189, I find Rockport price point quite competitive for a pair of durable, “everyday” shoes. For ladies who have larger feet, Rockport in Singapore has size 10 shoes available and if there is sufficient demand, they may look into bringing in US size 11 or 12 too!

While I find the Fall/Winter 2010 shoe collection rather boring, I saw some colourful pieces in the new Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Which is your favourite? I think I really love the Audry sandals… I was told that the leather braids are hand-woven, hence the steeper price tag. The heel height is about 3.5 inches, including the platform, and the heels are rather sharp. I tried on this pair for a short while and the sandals felt quite stable and comfortable for walking. The woven details are quite intricate and these would look lovely on capris or dresses!

If you are looking for a pair of comfortable heels, do check out of Rockport at major departmental stores such as Isetan and Takashimaya. Please share your thoughts after seeing or trying the shoes in real life and let me know if you want them to bring in those larger sizes!
