So the Oscars 2011 ended with a bang and many celebrities turned up in really lovely dresses and very polished make up. I thought some of the Oscars looks make perfect makeup and hair inspirations for all of us – be it for wedding parties, dates or formal dinners!

Cate Blanchett keeping her makeup simple and elegant in order not to steal the limelight from her stunning Givenchy dress. Her light rose beige lip colour is such a understated but sophisticated colour.

Best actress Natalie Portman also kept her makeup simple and elegant with bronze smokey eyes, pink blush and rose lips. Sweep and pin the hair to the side and tong them into luscious curls. I believe this is quite an easy look to emulate because it is easier to curl the hair from one side, than from all over the place!

This is a signature look of Anne Hathaway – enhanced brows, luscious eyes and deep red lips. Wear your fake lashes or pile on mascara to create the eyes and line your lips with a deep red lip pencil, before you apply the red lipstick with a lip brush for a defined lip shape.

Hailee Steinfeld rocked the sweetie-pie look with a lovely updo. Go with sweet pastel pink eye shadow, a brighter pink lippie and a light dash of blush. Check out this Youtube video on how to do an updo hairstyle like this!

Scarlett Johansson had a more interesting makeup for the night! She had deep orange eye shadow covering the eye socket area (PS: Orange is an IN shade this season), with dark gray shade at the lids, followed by light pink lipstick and bronzy cheeks. The messy tousled bob is hard to style with perfection. I would probably roll my hair up with heated curlers to attempt this hairdo.

Last but not least, Mandy Moore also chose to keep it simple with just shimmery eye shadow, well lined eyes and precise orange lips.
