What does “Pretty Hot” means to you?

“Pretty Hot” is the name of the latest fragrance from Elizabeth Arden, and is seen as the sultry sister of its previous fragrance “Pretty””.

Packaged in an outstanding shade of pomegranate (or grenadine), Elizabeth Arden calls this “fragrance of unmistakable sexy confidence”. So the tone has been set, the scent is supposed to be a little bit bewitching, naughty and sensual, not the usual sweet and dainty floral scent that we are probably familiar with.

The top notes of the perfume comprise of red currant, blood orange, juicy mandarin, freesia and red apple. The first whiff is rather spicy and citrus, different from the usual refreshing and mild fragrance that I am used to. I was also wary not to apply too much of this perfume as the initial smell was rather overpowering for me.

With drydown notes of amber, white patchouli, sandalwood, Cosmone (an exclusive musk) and tonka crystals, the fragrance is unique and somewhat grew on me as a richer perfume with a dash of character.  In terms of lasting power, it lasted me well for about half a day. A little spritz is necessary if you are heading out after 9 hours in the office.

So, if you are thinking of venturing out of your dainty floral comfort zone but not ready to be all sexed up yet, perhaps “Pretty Hot” – as the name suggests, somewhat alluring but not overly provocative – is a good consideration. The fragrance will be launched at Robinsons Centrepoint from 10-16 March 2011, and will be available islandwide from end March 2011. Prices start from S$95 for the 50ml EDP and S$115 for the 100ml version.
