We know Swarovski as a well-known crystal manufacturer and jeweller. But what is the link between Swarovski and fragrance? This year, the company tied up with Clarins Fragrance Group and concocted its first fragrance, named Aura.

I received the 30ml EDT, 100ml Deodorant spray and the Crystal Touch Make-up Jewel from this range.

What caught my eyes when I first found out about Aura by Swarovski, was the Crystal Touch Make-up Jewel (S$120). This is a luxurious jeweled pendant that contained silver shimmer. The pendant measures about 5cm in diameter, and is set with Swarovski Elements crystals. This could be adorned as a statement piece around the neck.

The shimmer in the pendant can be used as highlighter for your eye makeup, or just a light sparkle on your face and neck if you use sparingly. I kind of like the brilliance in associating shimmer with Swarovski, representing “a new way to shine”.

Just a slide on the upper part of the pendant and you can access your “silver dust” on the go. The range of make-up jewels also consist of Crystal Gloss (S$100) which contain either transparent or pale pink lip gloss.

And next, let’s take a look at the main focus of this range- the fragrance!

Aura by Swarovski Fragrance on the left: 30ml EDT S$80, 50ml EDT S$100, 75ml EDT S$140, 50ml EDT refill S$80.
Perfumed Deodorant Spray (100ml) on the right: S$39

The shape of the fragrance bottle is slim and elegant, with the tip of the silver coloured sheath set with a singular Swarovski crystal.

Like the name suggests, the fragrance is a light and but interestingly empowering scent. The heart of the fragrance is a fusion of amber and white musk, although the perfume consists of a fruity ray with notes of soft lychee, floral ray with notes of white jasmine and rosy floral ray with powdery notes of rose. The outcome is a mysterious but welcoming feminine and floral aura.

The deodorant, on the other hand, does not boast fancy packaging but provides a light scent that you can spritz on a few times a day.

Verdict

I like the scent and I can imagine this scent to win the hearts of many women easily. I am quite mesmerized by the crystal on the fragrance bottle, which  refracts different radiance at different angles. At S$80 for 30ml, I find the price rather affordable. The makeup-jewel is exquisite and certainly a great gift for a woman. While it is one of my favourite items in this Aura by Swarovski range, the practical side of me reminded that it is probably a nice-to-have to cheer yourself up, rather than a need.
