One common theme I observed from the various shows this Fashion Week season is that makeup colours have mellowed and hair colours have gone bigger and brighter.

Several designers had showcased their models in bare or natural makeup this season. Lips fluctuated from bright red to nude or beige. Fancy eye colours observed at previous Spring/Summer shows have been retired for mauve or taupe colours. On the crowning glory though, we see a variety of colours. Mint, pink, gold, green… just name it!

The nail colour used on the models was Deborah Lippman’s “Waking up in Vegas”. The makeup and nail polish were deliberately subdued to divert all attention to the hair, and the actual Spring/Summer collection!

I love the light rosy pink flush on the models’ faces! They were using NARS blush in Zen and Gaiety (new shade).

To blend with the collection’s Egyptian influence, models strutted the runway in gold foiled hair and almost fresh faces.

Burberry ProrsumLondon Fashion Week September 2011

Fortunately, there is no crazy hair at Burberry’s show but just subtle makeup looks on the models. The hair and makeup team used Burberry Cosmetics for the show. Taupe and Almond shades were used on the eyes and a tawny pink rouge (known as Tulip) was applied on the lips.

Similar to the other shows I have cited, the models at Versace wore minimal makeup but boasted feminine silky hair! The dusty pink lip colour was also a wonderful touch to the overall look, which complemented Versace’s sensual and feminine collection for next Spring.
