This year’s NYFW didn’t really serve that many surprises. Trend wise, floral prints, clean lines and bright shades such as coral, tangerine, yellow and turquoise look set to take the stage next Spring.

This is a good sign, right? Nothing radical, which means what we have in our wardrobes are likely to still be fashion forward in 2012!

1. Simplicity with a dash of colour

Marc by Marc Jacobs

All those bright and bold frocks that we procured this season are still good for next year. Colour block trends look set to continue – I spied an electrifying ensemble of fluorescent yellow+orange at Nanette Lepore – but you could also mellow it down with a more harmonious colour match, as demonstrated by Tibi with the cyan feat sky blue runway look.

2. Edgy Floral

Floral prints are synonymous to Spring/Summer season. You could add some edge to your floral get-up by matching with metallic fabric, a structured apparel or a plain statement piece.

3. Go Tribal

Michael Kors

I am hardly a tribal or safari person, but I really do like Michael Kors’ suggestion of pairing a structured shirt with the breezy tie-dye skirt. I would match such an outfit with a pair of oxfords for the office!

4. Feathery Inspirations

Oscar de la Renta

Feathery inspirations were observed since last season, when we spied feathers on the runway hair in July. But for all we know, it could be the new lace or fur in time to come. I love the light, feathery and almost weightless feel of the white Marchesa dress in the photo above.
