I recently received a question from a reader, Stella and I thought it would be useful to share my views with all of you too.
I’m desperate and need some fashion advice. I have been separated from my long time hairstylist and need to find another one. Any to recommend ? ~Stella
I think to select a suitable hairstylist, you need to also think about what kind of hairstyle you would like to experiment. After all, different hairstylists have different strengths.
If you would like to go for a different haircut
I would recommend Evande Loh from Hair Atelier by Shunji Matsuo. I got to know her through X-Wen, as she is her regular hairstylist aka the woman behind her versatile short crop. Later on, I realised that a couple of my friends have been going to Evande for their haircut for a long time.
She is able to conjure a suitable hairstyle according to your face shape, as well as lifestyle and occupation. For instance, given my serious office setting, I wasn’t receptive towards a hairstyle that is too short and drastic. Evande gave me a spiffier haircut that surprisingly made my face looked slimmer.
Haha, managed to fish out a photo from Instagram which encapsulate my first haircut by Evande late last year.
Hair Atelier by Shunji Matsuo is located at Ion Orchard #04-04. You will need to make an appointment – call +65 6509 5833. Prices start from S$80 for a haircut.
If you would like to go for a perm
If you are thinking of perming your hair in a softer Japanese/Asian style, I would recommend Komachi the Hair Cult. I have tried perming at Shunji Matsuo before but for a clear-cut curled hairstyle, I would prefer going to Rie Kanai of Komachi the Hair Cult.
As I have mentioned in my review, she speaks little English therefore you will need to bring some pictures to illustrate what you are looking for. Nonetheless, she is very patient during the perming process to ensure that the curls is in the shape that she wants, checking every few minutes.
A haircut and perm (for both digital or Japanese air perm) would cost S$300. Komachi the Hair Cult is located at International Building #02-03, contact number is +65 6339 9432.
I hope these two suggestions would help in some ways. I have not experimented much with hair colours, and I am not too fussy with hair treatment.
And if you have any other questions, please feel free to leave a comment here or on Facebook, or simply drop me an email!
一位读者向我询问有什么好的发型师可介绍。本人借此机会与大家分享自己比较推崇的发型师。若您有其他问题,不妨留言或发电邮,我也能够将问题以及我的建议刊登在部落格上。
