I was invited to the preview of Prada and Miu Miu Spring Summer 2013 Eyewear last week. This season’s shades just got more and more interesting. Bigger embellishments, check. Innovative shapes, check. Eclectic styles, check.
This season’s hottest eyewear is probably the flower series, that is the motif for their new advertising campaign. These are not just fun trendy frames, they are made of ultralight materials and is a breeze to wear too.
If you do not fancy decorative floral embellishments on your frames, you could go for the printed ones too. Another observation from this season’s collection, the clear-cut shapes and thickness reflect a strong yet feminine personality.
There are also other styles that exudes simple contemporary elegance, but characterised by various textures and tones.
Whimsical round, tortoise-shell wire-rim frames.
The men’s collection features clean and lightweight injected-nylon structure, with contrasting lead-colored metal rims.
There are also some interesting frames for prescription spectacles. Totally in love with the tortoise-shell texture from Prada – it has been featured collections after collections but somehow, the colour and patterns just got better.
The range from Miu Miu is less extensive as compared to Prada, but the Rasoir Sunglasses are eye-catching and playful – definitely an interesting addition to our Summer styles.
An angular cat-eye shape that marries retro style with contemporary twist, the designer played with different contrasting colour materials from classic tortoise shell to acrylic colours.
There is even a limited edition gold plated version.
Another interesting point to note, the eyewear collections come with the “Asia fit” version, where technical modifications, such as nose pads and curvature have been introduced to fit Asian’s face shapes and facial features better.
Which design is your favourite? Are you getting a new pair of shades this Summer?
