In the hot and humid climate like Singapore, many of us yearn for longer wearing foundation without the risk of excessive clogged pores – as if the sebum that our skin produces is not enough to stuff the pores already.

This summer, Dior launched a sebum-control, long-wearing foundation compact known as Diorskin Forever Extreme Control Compact Powder. Oil control and extreme wear – sounds familiar? Indeed, Maquillage launched a similar product about the same time and I have reviewed their product previously.

Dior calls this the “new matte”, which provides a velvety and luminous finish for the skin. Their unique “Control Wear complex” combines oil absorbing powders with a duo of elastic polymers for perfect makeup wear, despite heat and humidity. This helps to keep the skin fresh from day to night, and free from imperfections.

Similar to other Dior foundations, the Extreme Control Compact Powder comes in a sleek, elegant midnight blue case with magnetic closure, as well as a luxe velvet cover to protect the case.

You could use a dense foundation brush for a full coverage but for day-to-day makeup, I usually go for the soft kabuki brush which gives a very natural look. Similar to Maquillage’s True Powdery UV foundation, the makeup is long-lasting with smooth, matte and pore-less finish. The powder doesn’t shift much at the end of the day. Diorskin Forever Extreme Control foundation is also packed with SPF 20 PA++.

Even as a user, I can’t figure out which product I like better. I did a half face test for you to decide. I used the Maquillage Perfect Multibase BB as a primer before applying the foundation. As a result, both products provided similar finish and coverage. The only difference? Maquillage’s foundation had a rosier tint whereas Diorskin’s foundation appeared fairer on me. I am using O20 for Dior and OC20 for Maquillage.

The bottom line, if oil control is an issue for you and you are shopping for a foundation compact, I have narrowed down to these 2 products for your shortlist. Shop around, check out the shades and decide which one matches your skin tone better.

Diorskin Forever Extreme Control Compact Powder is priced at S$90.
