My blog pally X-Wen has started a new venture GUMMI Nails which produces trendy nail wraps and allow you to wear Ryan Gosling proudly on your fingers.

We all know the ease and convenience of nail stickers, but how does the new kid Gummi Nails compare with other established competitors (refer to here and here)?

Priced at S$16, each pack comes with 20 stickers of different sizes, as well as a nail file. You could technically use each set twice!

I chose the “B is for Bananas” and “Pretty in Aztec” designs from the Endless Summer series.

Application was easy. Just peel off the sticker and fit it on your nail, before filing the excess. GUMMI Nails suggests that you apply a base coat on your nails before applying the stickers. Similar, after application, you could apply a layer of top coat from certain brands (Sephora, Butter London, Dior, Chanel and Priti NYC). I would suggest going without the top coat because the sticker is glossy on its own.

GUMMI Nails feels like an in-between of L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Nail Art Stickers and Sally Hansen Salon Effects. Sally Hansen’s strips felt a bit flimsier but could easily accommodate various nail sizes – you could use the wooden stick to “cut” away excess sticker from your nails. GUMMI Nails, on the other hand, feels more like a sticker but is soft enough to adhere well on the nail surface.

Removal is also a breeze with GUMMI Nails. All you have to do is to peel off the sticker, with no nail polish remover required. I have heard feedback from friends and readers about how Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects are hard to remove, even with nail polish remover. If this is a deterrence, you should try out GUMMI Nails!

A word of caution on the application of top coat though, not all top coats work well on GUMMI Nails. I tried applying a layer of Seche Vite top coat on top of the Pretty in Aztec stickers and some of them “melted” and crumpled immediately. As such, I think it’s best to skip the top coat for best effect.

In short, I am looking forward to more designs from GUMMI Nails to dress up my nails. The online shop is launching soon but meanwhile, you could check out their Facebook Page or make a pre-order.
