Recently, I had an encounter which reminded me that the sense of smell is such a fascinating concept. We tend to think that a fragrance defines us but the environment and temperature could change the scent. Mysteriously, our personal experiences could also evoke different emotions and interpretation to the smell.

In a nutshell, the perfume scent is never a constant. It evolves and changes. A little bit like a chameleon.

If the photo of the lady in blush silk dress is a fragrance, how would you describe the scent?

I would imagine the perfume to be light and girlish. Somewhat understated, but a little seductive. It is subtle but it also lingers.

The latest addition to the Valentino’s perfume collection, Valentina Acqua Floreale is a summer scent that is perfect for ladies who prefer a light, refreshing citrus floral scent. Lifting from the press release, the fragrance is depicted as  “the sparkling freshness of bergamot combined with more delicate, feminine notes of neroli and is followed by a harmonious blend of mimosa, jasmine, orange blossom, and tuberose. Warm and sensuous accords of amber and patchouli complete the bouquet.”

The Acqua Floreale is a suitable everyday fragrance. It doesn’t leave a strong initial impression, but it is a pleasant and feminine scent for all occasions. The only downside though is its longevity. Be prepared to top up as often as every two hours for sustainability.

Valentina Acqua Floreale EDT retails at S$162 (80ml) and S$126 (50ml).
