You know how your skin has mood swings at times. Sudden purge of zits, or patches of redness and occasional bumps.. and you just don’t know why that happens and how to alleviate the situation.

There are skincare products in the market that target such “stressful” situations. If you are undergoing such a phase right now, you can consider some of these products.

1. Shiseido Ibuki range

A new skincare range from Shiseido, this array of Ibuki products aim to build inner resistance for smooth, trouble-free skin by reinforcing the protective lipid barrier to help it hold in moisture and ward off environmental stressors.

If you are looking for a star item in the range, go for the Refining Moisturizer (S$66, 75ml) which is a multi-functional product that helps to improve pores, blemishes and skin roughess while hydrating your skin. With a light dewy texture, the moisturizer applies well with a light hint of milky floral scent. Typical of Shiseido skincare products, the effect on the skin is usually quite gentle but with enough patience, it delivers its promise!

2. Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer

A new product from Kiehl’s launched in the middle of this year, the Skin Rescuer (S$58) promises to reduce the visible signs of stress on skin – skin fatigue, de-hydration, blotchiness and redness. Apart from the short-term visible signs, the moisturizer also tries to address longer term aging effect that stress could incur on your skin.

I have been using this moisturizer on and off when I am traveling. Firstly, the bottle is small and light, and the pump dispenser is hygenic as well as hassle-free, making it perfect for my travel beauty pouch. Secondly, stress on the skin occurs more often from jet-setting. This product therefore is ideal as a preventive measure before my skin goes berserk.

The Skin Rescuer actually has a thicker gel-like consistency but fortunately it seems to work fine on my oily combination skin. It does not feel too heavy and in fact settles well as a good base for sunscreen and makeup.

 3. Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate

This is a random discovery while shopping at Clarins, I have personally have not tried this product yet. The Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate (S$95 for 15ml) is a light oil containing plant extracts and is able to soothes irritation with fatty acids from soy and avocado, reduces redness with licorice and marjoram and increases the skin’s resistance to external aggressors.

Whilst this is a beauty oil, according to various reviews, it works well for oily combination skin and is able to heal sensitive skin conditions within a short frame.

My interest is definitely piqued. Do share your comments with me if you have used this product!
