Available in stores since 1 November 2013, every item in Dior‘s Christmas collection this year looks so glamorous. Inspired by Versailles at the heart of winter, the Golden Winter collection is based around shades of pink and gold. Design of the packaging is similar to last year’s “Grand Bal” festive collection.
Here are some of the items from the collection that I will be reviewing in this post.
(from left) Dior Perfumed Illuminating Powder in 001 Rose D’Or, Dior Vernis, Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow in Golden Snow
I think this Perfumed Illuminating Powder (S$115) is the highlight of this collection. It’s an absolute beauty in the luxurious gold casing and a dense powder brush.
The Golden Snow palette (S$96) comprises of 3 very wearable shades and two shimmery options. It creates a neutral, frosty look that is perfect for a glamourous party.
- Diorblush – 889 New Red
- Dior 5 Couleurs 644 – Golden Snow
- Dior Perfumed Illuminating Powder – 001 Rose D’Or ( as highlighter on the nose and cheeks)
- Dior Rouge Addict Extreme – 369 Mystic
Perfumed Illuminating Powder: This is a shimmery highlighter laced with the fragrance of J’adore. It has a glittery sheen, but not too garish or messy. I would use a blush brush because the one provided by Dior together with the product picks up a bit too much when applied on the face. The powder works very well on the décolletage.
5 Couleurs in Golden Snow: I used only 4 colours for this look – I didn’t use the Gold shade at all. I could see this as an easy-to-wear ensemble . You could go with just 2 shades, or blend with 3 to 4 shades. The Golden Snow is described by Dior as “for the glamour at night” but in my opinion, it is suitable for day makeup too.
Dior Vernis in Frimas and Minute (S$40): Similar to the last year, the special Christmas nail colours are packaged in a round bottle with a resplendent gold cap, resembling a Christmas ornament. The colours shown above are Frimas (nude shade with shimmer) and Minute (an intense red with shimmer). I hope I was able to capture bits of the dazzling sparkly effect of the nail lacquer – but I would assure you that these colours would make most nail fans go weak on their knees!
In conclusion, if you are pondering about what to get for your female colleagues or friends, you could get started with the Golden Winter collection. The smaller items – nail polishes and lipsticks – make great stocking fillers while the key items – such as the 5 Couleurs eye shadow and Illuminating Powder – would certainly be highly coveted among your female pals!
