DVF‘s iconic wrap dress turns 40 this year – alas, the dress is older than yours truly – and to commemorate this milestone, fashionistas from around the globe will be telling us their experiences with this timeless dress.

First to kickstart the “journey” – Coco Rocha!

Several global style influencers such as Emma Roberts. Aimee Song from “Song of Style”, Chriselle Lim from “The Chriselle Factor”,  “The Blonde Salad” and “Le Blog de Betty” will be showcasing their styles in the signature DVF Jeanne Wrap dress.

Here’s Coco Rocha’s #journeyofadress story:

“My mom was a big fan of the wrap dress in her early years and so, as her mini-me, I started out wearing them very young. So young in fact that I can’t even remember the first one! The wrap dress has always been a staple of my wardrobe but it wasn’t until I started modeling at 15 that I really came to appreciate the dress and the lady that started it all, Diane. It’s crazy to me that a dress like the wrap is as timeless today as it was 40 years ago. One day I’ll dress my daughter in her first wrap dress, and I’m sure she’ll dress our granddaughter. That will be our story of the wrap.”

I do not own the Jeanne Wrap dress, but managed to find some old photos of me wearing a Julian Wrap dress that was launched in 2005 or 2006.  I first got to know about DVF dresses in 2006, when I was still a newbie to the corporate world. My job required me to attend semi-formal events involving VIPs and as I didn’t had a suitable dress in my wardrobe! By chance, I tried on some dresses at DVF in Takashimaya and was amazed by how flattering all her dresses were – especially the wrap dresses! I eventually bought the Julian wrap dress for an upcoming work event. It was my first “designer” dress and the rest was history.

Today, I have a few DVF dresses and I still wear them occasionally to work or events. These dresses often receive compliments, and I’m truly amazed by how the designs could stand the test of time.
