I think Penang is fast becoming a destination of choice for quick weekend getaways! Indeed, the food options there are very tempting and not to mention the interesting street art, murals as well as interesting cafes at Georgetown.

I was there for a weekend a few months ago and had a field day snapping pictures with the murals, mostly by Ernest Zacharevic

“Boy on Bike” at Lorong Ah Quee.

“The Dancer” at Stewart Lane.

“Little Girl in Blue” at Muntri Street.

“Little Children on Bicycle” at Armenian Street.

“Reaching Up” at Cannon Street. A cafe has ingeniously sprouted up beside the mural!

“The Awaiting Trishaw Pedaler” at Penang Road.

“Children on the Swing” at Chulia Street Ghaut.

“Children Playing Basketball” at Chulia Street Ghaut.

There were also several steel rod caricatures around Georgetown, explaining the history and heritage of the different areas.

Do factor at least one day (or more) at Georgetown if you are in Penang! Hope you will enjoy the rich and fun artistic culture over there as much as I did!
