For those who are not familiar with the Future Solution LX series from Shiseido, this is the prestige line from the Japanese beauty brand synonymous with luxury high-performance skincare products with anti-aging benefits.

This year, this skincare range has launched two make-up products – a liquid foundation and loose powder. But true to its philosophy to marry leading technology and research, these two new items are “make-up with benefits”, infused with t>he signature and exclusive Skingenecell 1P to counteract the appearance of future aging, as well as 4MSK, an innovative brightening ingredient for a luminous, even skin tone.

Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation SPF 15 (S$122 for 30ml)

Don’t be fooled by the packaging, which resembles a luxurious gel of face cream. This is a gel of foundation with skincare benefits, and a little – I meant as a little as a pearl drop – goes a long way.

I can’t quite tell whether my skin looks plumper as a result, but one pearl-sized of this foundation really works wonders. I apply the foundation using Shiseido’s Perfect Foundation Brush and it gives a radiant, flawless matte finish. The coverage is mid to high, therefore I could afford to skip the concealer on good skin days.

The texture is lightweight, similar to many liquid foundations in the market. But I am most impressed by its lasting power, because the foundation doesn’t really streak or oil much by the end of the day. This is probably one of the best I have sampled thus far – a trusty foundation with velvet finish on my oily skin after 8 hours.

I do wish that the foundation was packaged in a pump bottle rather than a jar though. It is such a hassle to open the jar and scoop out the content. It would have been more hygienic and convenient to have this product “pump and go”.

Available in 11 shades, and packed with SPF 15, this foundation is definitely a keeper in my makeup cabinet.

No photoshop – and spot my zit!

Shiseido Future Solution LX Loose Powder (S$102 for 10g)

This product is reminiscent of the Shiseido White Lucent Skincare Powder at first glance.

Ok, perhaps not exactly the same. The White Lucent powder is white, whilte the Future Solution LX powder is beige. White Lucent powder (S$75 for 25g, limited edition) is packed with m-Tranexamic Acid for brightening, whilst Future Solution LX Total Radiance powder contains Super-Hyaluronic Acid and refines complexion with Aura Radiance Powder.

I use a big fluffy powder brush to apply the face powder, rather than the puff provided and the Future Solution LX powder works well with the foundation. But, if you are looking for more bang with the buck, such as “HD” or more well made-up finish, I personally would prefer my favourite NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder.

Don’t get me wrong. The Future Solution LX Loose Powder is neat, but I am just not sure whether it’s value-for-money, given that there are other similar, or better options offered by the same stable (Shiseido and NARS).

Do not hesitate to splurge on the Shiseido Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation if you are in the market for a new foundie. Period.
