I recall some 2 years ago, I blogged about a few pink lipsticks, which I affectionately labelled them as “VPL“. Fast forward 2 years later, the bright lips trend is burning hot and furious. The popular pink shades have now taken to a darker direction, trending towards magenta and fuschia.

Here are 3 new VPLs that I would like to share in this post.

Nyx Matte Lipstick in MLS02 (S$12, Available at Sephora)

This is an inexpensive but decent lip stick and lip colour that I would highly recommend to everyone. The MLS02 (Shocking Pink) shade is a unique bright blue-toned pink that is loud, but not too overbearing and seems to complement with almost everything! The matte formula from Nyx is decent, colour payoff is great and the product is not drying.

Sephora stocks a good collection of Nyx cosmetics as well as lipsticks. For those who would like to experiment with colours without having to splurge, I think this would be a good option for your consideration.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Michiyo (S$44)

I have blogged about the new Audacious lipsticks previously. As you can tell, on its own, Michiyo is a deep fuchsia shade that is a good alternative from the usual coral red. But when you compare this shade with Nyx’s “Shocking Pink”, it is not hard to deduce the versatility of Michiyo. Bold, but slightly deeper and subdued, this shade is great for both serious and fun parties!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Turn On (S$33)

This is probably the mildest purplish/pink lipstick of the lot, but I thought this colour worked well for me. It looks sweet but not in the candy/bubblepop manner. The colour payoff is fantastic as well, and the finishing is smooth and creamy. Only issue is that it doesn’t stay on for a long time and regular touch-up is required.

Urban Decay is available at Sephora stores here too.

So, here’s my reviews on the new batch of “VPL”. Which one is your pick?
