Whoops, I have been on a blog hiatus recently. But I am back and with the year coming to a close, let me share with you my favourites for the year – starting from Beauty products.
1. Favorite serum – Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (S$75 for 30ml)
This is not a new product, as it was launched in 2012. However, I only started trying the serum – one of Kiehl’s best sellers in Singapore – this year and I must say that I’m truly hooked. My dermatologist had recommended me to use Vitamin C Essence from her clinic and after I ran out of it, I decided to look for an alternative. The Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution from Kiehl’s contains a Vitamin C derivative – Activated C as a key ingredient, along side with peony extract and whit birch extract.
The serum is very lightweight and moisturising. It is effective in lightening zit scars and formulated without silicones, parabens and fragrance, this is an affordable whitening serum suitable for sensitive and oily skin types.
PS: I tried purchasing this at Changi Airport and was informed that this product is sold out in Singapore currently! Do not let it slip if you happen to see it at any Kiehl’s store.
2. Favorite fragrance – Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt (S$100 f0r 30ml, S$200 for 100ml)
I have introduced this new scent from Jo Malone a few months back (blog post here) and several other fragrances later, this is still my favorite for the year. It exudes a relaxed and raw feel that reminds me of summer vacation. As a result, this is my parfum du jour on Thursday and Friday when the weekend is inching nearer.
I simply love that refreshing feeling, and the reminder of my unforgettable European vacations.
3. Favorite hair care products – The Living Proof “Perfect Hairday”Series
Thanks to Sephora Singapore, I am introduced to this awesome set of haircare products this year (blog post here)! If I were to strongly recommend one item from the series, it would be the Living Proof PHD 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. This is the holy grail for your mane because it helps to soften and distangle dry ends.. just amazing!
4. Favorite new brand – Pureheal’s
A brand that hails from Korea, this is a new brand that is available at Sephora Singapore this year. I had the opportunity to try several items from Pureheal’s Propolis range and I am really impressed by the quality of products from this affordable brand.
Another item that I like is the Propolis Rose Callus Mask (S$32 for a box of 6 sheets). This product has intensive moisturizing and anti inflammatory properties. I carry a few packs along when I am traveling so that I could apply a mask (or two) during my trip. I see this as an affordable treat for the skin.
5. Favorite makeup remover – Bioderma Sensibio H2O
Within the makeup remover space, I have been loyal to Bioderma Sensibio H2O for several years (blog post here). The water-based makeup remover is the solution for my oily sensitive skin and it is hard to move back to oil-based products after using this for so long.
The packaging has changed recently to a new pump format, which makes it even easier and more hygienic, as there is lesser incidence of spillage. You can get Bioderma products (I highly recommend their Sensibio Light Soothing Cream too) from Guardian outlets.
6. Favorite lipstick – a tie between Dior Addict Fluid stick and NARS Audacious Lipstick
For the lipstick (or lip colours) section, it is a tie between Dior Addict Fluid Stick and NARS Audacious Lipstick. Both are big launches for their respective brands, and the products are unique (for Dior) or irresistible (for NARS).
7. New must-have makeup product in 2014: Laniege BB Cushion (Pore Control)
In 2014, I re-discovered the BB cushion. I have tried a sample from Laneige years ago and disliked how messy it could be as the liquid stains the case as we ll as the sponge. However, the texture and finish of the BB cushion is something that I fell in love with this year.
I have added Laneige BB Cushion (Pore Control) into my must-have makeup items – together with NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (which were discoveries from the previous years). You can read my review of Laneige BB Cushion here.
