Honestly, you don’t really need to do much at Six Senses Con Dao. Immersed in such strikingly beautiful location with excellent services within the resort, it is easy to let time slip by while enjoying your private infinity pool.

Nonetheless, I will share with you some activities that you could take part in at your stay there.

1. Diving or Snorkelling

Most parts at Con Dao are marked as marine conservation areas but there are ample opportunities for diving and snorkeling to admire the coral reefs and marine life.

I arranged for a morning snorkeling session at Six Senses which lasted three hours and saw me exploring near two islets under water. I think it is worth while signing up for the sea activities there given that it is a relatively undisrupted conservation area that is not exploited by tour operators yet.

If you are concerned about cost of snorkeling trip, you could also find a dive operator at the town which organises such trips at competitive rates.

2. Vietnamese Cooking Class

The food served at Six Senses was delicious, so I thought it was time to learn from the head Vietnamese chef there!

We learnt how to make Vietnamese traditional rice rolls, Banh Xeo (Crispy egg pancake) and a claypot stew dish. You get to enjoy your fruit of labour after the class!

The cooking class was a fun way to spend two hours understanding Vietnamese cuisine and getting some hands-on experience cooking your own dinner. The ingredients were prepared by Six Senses, so we really got to experience the fun bits such as wrapping the rice rolls and cooking the pancake and the meat.

3. Yoga and Ayurvedic Consultation

During my stay there, there were complimentary morning yoga sessions held every day at the resort. I attended one of the classes, conducted by Six Senses Wellness Consultant Dr Aneesh.

This one-hour class was basic yoga with some tips on meditation as well. Not too much of a work-out although it was a great way to kick-start the day. A personalised yoga programme could be designed based on your preference at a fee.

Dr Aneesh is a fourth-generation Ayurvedic doctor and yoga teacher from India, trained at the Ananda Spa Institute. I had a wellness consultation with him to understand my constitution and dosha type (Ayurvedic body type). He would dish out health advice based on your dosha type.

The wellness consultation is complimentary, and Dr Aneesh is able to tailor therapy, massage and yoga programmes for you based on the consultation results.

Other activities to consider:

  • Cycling around the resort. Each villa is assigned two bicycles for guests to commute around – if you decided not to use the resort’s buggy service.
  • Exploring the town on Vespa or bicycles.
  • Hiking
  • Watching a movie under the stars: the resort has an outdoor movie screening on certain day of the week.

Nonetheless, I found that it was best to keep the activities line-up light and easy to maximise your time for some privacy at the villa, or just chill by the bar or restaurant and admire the beach view.
