In conjunction with the Republic’s jubilee, many brands have launched commemorative items to celebrate SG50. After all, this is a great occasion to launch something special, limited edition and celebratory!

I like that some of the brands also donate part of the proceeds from the sale of these items to some nation-building initiatives.

1. Kiehl’s Heritage Sets

Kiehl’s has launched a specially-designed editions of their iconic Ultra Facial Cream and lighter-textured Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream in conjunction with Singapore’s 50th birthday. In addition, there are also the specially curated Heritage Collection Box Sets where net proceeds will be donated to the aid of restoring a selection of Singapore’s monuments.

The sale of these limited edition items had started since June.

2. Swarovski SG50 Capsule Collection

Swarovski has also joined in the fun with their adorable capsulte collection. The “Crystal Myriad Merlion” is quite a work of art that is embellished with 15,793 crystals in clear crystal, Crystal Aurora Borealis, Crystal Moonlight, Crystal Silver Shade, and White Opal. Swarovski artisans spent 83 hours hand-setting the crystals, and another 23 hours hand-crafting theblue and white base. The Merlion is a limited edition of only 20 pieces and priced at S$4800 – a perfect gifts for visitors to Singapore.

The “SG50 Kris Bear”, on the other hand, is crafted from sparkling Swarovski crystal with three orchids clasped in his arms, representative of Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim.

My favourite item is the Ballpoint Pen, which feature distinctly Singaporean motifs such as the Samsui Woman! Each pen also features a metal tag with “Singapore” engraving.

3. Uniqlo UT Me!

Uniqlo recently launched a T-shirt design app UT Me! which allows users to come up with their own UT design. This app could be downloaded on iTunes and Android.

Once you are done with the design, you could go to the UT Me! counter (at Bugis+ store) to pay and collect the t-shirt.

Specially to commermorate SG50, Uniqlo worked with Noise Singapore in a collaboration known as “Uniqlo Street Tales” to bring  several special designs that share stories and memories of Singapore. You can print these Singapore-exclusive UTs at Uniqlo Bugis+ from 4 July to 10 August. Net proceeds will be donated to Community Chest.

4. Montblanc

This special edition of the Montblanc Star Classique timepiece features Singapore’s symbol – the Lion head with the words “SG50” inscripted on a white mother-of-pearl dial with Arabic numerals. There are only 50 pieces for this design, priced at S$13,000. Montblanc will donate part of the proceeds from their SG50 collcetion to the Pathlight School to help children with special needs to reach their potential.
