I think pretty yoga/workout clothes had fast became more of a “need” rather than a “want” in my list of priorities. After all, these are clothes that I have to wear on a weekly basis and it is important to look good while working out!
(That means I may not be able to do a headstand at yoga, but at least I am dressed like a pro… )
Of course, when we talk about yoga or workout clothes, Lululemon comes to mind. The brand has set up two stores here in Singapore – Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City where we can try out the beautiful tanks and leggings before making the purchase.
Are there other yoga clothing stores here in Singapore?
The short answer is yes – plenty and it all depends on your budget. Even the yoga studios here have a retail corner selling yoga clothes. I have came up with a list of 5 stores that boast beautiful and affordable yoga gear for your reference.
1) Forever 21
I have blogged about Forever21 sportswear extensively in a separate post. The stores here have sportswear corners that stock up some sports bras, tanks and tights. Prices are very affordable – ranging from about S$23 for a sports bra to S$49 for a pair of tights!
The quality, as I mentioned is decent and I love those sexy caged back sports bra! You need to be quick in spotting the designs and sizes though because the items, especially the smaller and more popular sizes get sold out very fast.
You guys might think I’m so mainstream by recommending Adidas. This recommendation is based on my personal experience – the support tank tops from Adidas are well-made and long lasting. I have been wearing a padded tank top from Adidas for almost 5 years every week and that said top shows nary a sign of wear today!
Recently, I noticed one of my yoga instructors was wearing Adidas – which is rare because most of them would choose Lululemon. She also shared similar sentiments as me – that Adidas workout clothes are of decent quality and value for money. #truestory
In addition, when compared with Nike sports tanks, I personally prefer the level of padded support from Adidas.
Vivre is a homegrown brand with an online presence, as well as two stores in Singapore – one at Far East Plaza, and the other at J Cube.
I love their designs that include interesting back details on their tank tops and sports bra, as well bright, eye-catching prints on the active tights. Price point is reasonable, at between S$30-50 for sports bra/tank and S$49 for printed crops.
I own a pair of leggings from H&M. It was adorned with cool prints and is of decent quality. And the price of that pair of leggings was S$39.90, which was pretty affordable. The sexy strappy draped open back top featured above, which is reminiscent of Lululemon Wild Tank, is priced at S$49.90.
5) Urban Slings
Technically, this online shop does not have physical presence. Nonetheless, I believe yoga chicks here would appreciate a mention of Urban Slings because this Singapore-based store stocks up renown brands such as Onzie, Michi, Om Shanti Clothing.
If you have been getting your yoga shopping fix online, you would appreciate that returns are made easier now with Urban Slings and the prices (quoted in SGD) is comparable to purchasing on international sites.
