I should hang my head low with shame because it has been a long time since I last wrote a dining review. Indeed, I am guilty for slacking off on the food front, and have been trying to catch with the endless slew of fashion and makeup news and story ideas.
It’s not as if I haven’t been visiting interesting eateries. One place that I recently been to is Antoinette, a French eatery set up by a Singaporean chef.

I have heard of “Bistro Du Vin” a number of times, but I never knew that it was such a cozy eatery nestled at the back alley of a shopping mall along the glitzy Orchard Road. For that split moment, I thought I was transported across time and continent ala “Midnight in Paris”, a film by Woody Allen.

One of my interesting NYC experiences was dining at the world’s best 50 restaurants – WD~50. There are a number of such restaurants in NYC, but we picked WD~50, which received one Michelin star, for its more casual ambience.
Opened in 2003 by chef Wylie Dufresne, the restaurant name was derived from the initials of the chef, and the unit number of the restaurant. WD~50 focuses on molecular gastronomy and in most of the menu items, the chef attempts to break down a complex taste, or innovate with different cooking methods.

The restaurant cum bar resides at the funky Lower East Side and encourages a casual dining experience.

I recently watched a Chinese romantic comedy “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” starring Daniel Wu, Louis Ku and a Chinese actress Gao Yuan Yuan. The setting of the movie was mostly in Hong Kong Central and there were a few landmarks that I could identify with.
One of which was obviously Caffe Habitu, a name that I have frequently mentioned at my Twitter or Facebook, but not so much on this blog. Caffe Habitu is a cozy lifestyle cafe with Italian influence, and there are several outlets in Hong Kong.

Gao Yuan Yuan was waiting for Louis Ku and he got distracted by another lady at Pacific Coffee – which is indeed beside Caffe Habitu at Hutchison House in Central – and never turned up for the date.

A friend took us to this quaint restaurant within a Si He Yuan, known as “Red Capital” in Beijing. Nestled in one of Hutongs at DongSi DaJie, it was a little bit hard to find. But apparently, the restaurant has received much accolades from all over the world – such as “World’s Sixty Hot Tables” for the Millennium by Conde Nast.

I had some free time in Hong Kong and I needed to break away from the comfort zone (i.e. Starbucks and Caffe Habitu). Thanks to a reader who sent me a list of coffee and cake places that I have to check out, I managed to end up at Le Salon de Thé de Joël Robuchon, in the Landmark at Central, Hong Kong.

Apparently, this place is quite popular for its afternoon tea!

I talked about a social enterprise a while ago. Recently I visited another cafe that supports charity causes.
