Congratulations! You have just started your professional career. It’s a lot to grapple with – you are now building new stage of life, getting immersed in a new environment with new people.
And this is also the beginning of a new wardrobe.
The professional wardrobe, you see, is almost a whole new module/subject/language/science all together. Dressing like an adult ain’t easy, and it could be quite an expensive project. One thing for sure, it’s time to retire your usual blogshop favorites of skirts with short hemline cutting to mid thigh or crop top that barely keep your belly button covered.
Do you think the above is office appropriate? (Image credit: Pinterest)
This was one of my work outfits this week. I love this newly acquired lace fringe shell top from Warehouse and look how versatile it is!

Other than retailing designer brands at discount, The Outnet has now launched its own label “Iris & Ink“. This collection comprises of mostly “wardrobe essentials” for the modern woman.
With photos from their upcoming Spring 2013 collection, perhaps it’s time for us to check what’s missing in our corporate wardrobe!
1. Peplum Top
Many people might have the impression of Victoria Beckham as the woman who never smiles. Nonetheless, in terms of sartorial sense, there are little nuggets that we could take a leaf out of her book. It is interesting to note that Posh seems to be exuding more career woman chic in the recent years, given her new identity as a designer behind her own brand.
How to wear orange
Go for a good fit, and match the bright colour with neutral shades such as black or navy.
Having been a cubicle rat for several years, I have learnt that looking classy, fashionable and serious for the office is no mean feat. Many people often dismiss corporate wear as boring and stifling. Many ladies also stick to the safe haven – by wearing black most of the time.
Indeed, it seems hard to juggle sartorial sense when your professionalism is on the table but I thought it’s time all of us be inspired with our office wardrobe with reference from Olivia Palermo!
How to mix and match pants outfits: well-fitted blazer or a silk blouse?
I met X-wen at the Jimmy Choo Fall/Winter collection preview a few days ago and it was hilarious how we came in same colour combination without any warning.
Of course we had to take a picture together. I love her new pixie crop!
I was in my day-to-day corporate lady wear, although I must say I really love the shade of kelly green of my skirt. It is a stunning colour that goes well with different skin tones.
Top: Victoria’s Secret | Eyelet skirt: Oscar de la Renta |
Skinny belt: ASOS | Shoes: Etienne Aigner
The perils of fashion blogging is you get temptations everywhere, sometimes when you least expect it. I received photos of the latest Fall/Winter collection from adidas SLVR and kinda got mesmerised. Especially this Sateen Tux Blazer which literally had me at hello.
The casual chic line continues to offer elegant and stylish clothing options that are both sport-inspired and smart for occasions. And yes, adidas has extended from sportswear to spiffy everyday wear through this label .
