Fashion. They do go through a revival, don’t they? I remember more than 20 years ago, during the era when Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt were an item, backpacks were the IN thing. (Oops, did I just revealed my age?)

Remember the vintage Moschino black backpack adorned with movable gold letter alphabets? And Alicia Silverstone and her tiny little bag in our favorite movie “Clueless”?

Fast forward Fall/Winter 2014, backpacks are back in the game once again.

I wanted chat about the rise of comfortable shoes, in particular, the Birkenstocks. What used to my go-to footwear in college is now the IN thing in the fashion-sphere.

And I do embrace this whole new “comfortable sporty shoes” trend wholeheartedly.. although I don’t see myself wearing a pair of black Arizonas to the office tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone!  How was your first week of 2011?  The new year is always a reflection of the past, resolutions for the new and dreams of the spring season can only lead to the inevitable: spring cleaning. Sure, I may be jumping ahead of myself with Spring. But if your resolution is to curb that shopping habit of yours, keep in mind the trends from 2010 that will last you all through the warmer parts of 2011.

1. Neutrals
Keep all your camel-colored options from 2010 and gear them up for this year by mixing them with 2011′s new black: white.

More inspirations on a “socks” outfit. Shamelessly posting photos from Cocorosa.

I have short dresses. I have wedges (albeit less chunky). I just need to search for my Japanese socks!

Cast a vote and tell me, Yeah or Nay to Socks?

Bow details add feminine touches to your spring outfits. They were an integral feature on the runway since 2009 (or maybe earlier) and look set to continue in 2010. Miss Glitzy has shortlisted some bow apparels that you can find in Singapore.

(from left) Chalk Carmen Top S$119 – Cream pleated top with bow tie. This top is available as a dress too. You can wear it tucked out of your skirt or shorts for a casual, playful outfit. And keep the top inside your pencil skirt for a preppy, office-lady look.

Hansel big bow short sleeve dress S$299 – Another cheerful, casual dress in electric blue! The bow detail is huge, but so stylish and rather subtle.

Raoul black strapless dress with white bow – A classy dress for dinners or cocktail events.

(from left) Forever 21 Cropped Croquet Jacket US$32.80 – This is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I like it, but will be mindful when I match this so that I won’t look like a waiter/waitress!

New Look Striped Bow Jersey Dress £22.00 – This is a very simple but girlish dress. Match it with a satin hairband!

Topshop Bow Jaquard Dress by Yuki £55.00 – The bow is an icing to an otherwise ordinary khaki printed dress.

It’s not difficult to carry off bow pieces. Just play down on your accessories or go for a smaller bow if you want to downplay the casual or frivolous factor. I also think the bow is an interesting addition to the usual monochrome ensemble.
