Over the weekend, Mr Christian Louboutin was in town and had a cocktail party at the boutique in Ngee Ann City, as well as at Potato Head Folk along Keong Saik Road.
It was a well-attended affair, with many guests in Louboutin’s designs, hoping to get his signature (which he politely declined).
First off, let’s admire some of the shoes in store.
Sometime last year, I met up with W, who brought me to a bridal studio down town to browse some new shoes that her friend was about to launch.
That was how I met Shiqi Fang, a young lady from Shanghai, who wants to bridge the gap between quality designers shoes and the exorbitant price point. Over a bottle of apple cider, I learnt that she designed the shoes and had them manufactured in China, using nappa leather and other premium materials to achieve similar level of quality as many well-known labels. That day, I posted a photo of a pair of embellished pumps which I saw at the studio and the response gathered from readers was warm.
Fast forward two months later, Atelier Fang is officially opened at Mandarin Gallery Level 3.
Christian Louboutin. To be really honest, I never expected myself to be associated to the sexy stilettos with signature red lacquered soles.
Like these – The Helmour Shoes (S$880).
I am the advocate of comfortable shoes and I hardly wear any stilettos! But well, never judge an author by its popular titles. I found out at the recent press preview of their upcoming AW collection that the French designer does design comfortable shoes for those who want normalcy after all.
