At the request of a friend, I am compiling some of the popular eateries in Niseko in aid of her trip planning. I have consolidated this food list after gathering feedback from friends who have been to Niseko.

If you intend to visit in end December which is the peak season, you may need to start planning your accommodation now and consider restaurant reservations! Popular restaurants get fully booked in advanced such that you could end up having to walk in and wait outside in the cold or try your luck at less popular restaurants.

I just got back from my second trip to Niseko (Hokkaido) and boy, it was exhilarating to be skiing with a big group of people for one whole week. I get a lot of questions from friends, such as “You are going to Niseko again? Didn’t you go there last year?”, “You mean you just ski the entire week? Sounds torturous to me.”

Being born and bred in the tropics, we are probably very unfamiliar with winter sports given little or no exposure to it growing up. Through this post, hopefully I could help to answer questions you may have with regards to planning a ski/snowboarding trip.

I have only one #OOTD to share for my recent winter holiday because truth to be told, I was in my ski gear almost everyday and there is almost zilch fashion brownie points from that everyday outfit. In case you think I’m committing a crime, hang on because this is exactly what a really famous style blogger said >> click (#namedropalert).

Anyway, I spent a day in Otaru to enjoy the fresh seafood and delectable pastries!

For a detailed destination guide on Niseko, please visit this post on my travel blog The T List.

It’s not like I have traveled extensively for holidays this year but I would like to recommend two locations as part of the ‘Best of 2014′ series. These two places are poles apart and would appeal to different preferences: Ko Lipe in Thailand for a beach getaway and Niseko in Japan for a taste of winter wonderland.

The T SpotBy the time you are reading this, I am probably trooping around in the land of risotto and gelato, Angels and Demons, The Last Supper and David, as well as the smell of Prada and Bottega Veneta!

It has been a while since I take a long holiday – the last time I went away from my job for 2 weeks was my East Coast trip 3 years ago!

This is probably how I’m feeling right now – yours truly looking crazy in a hostel at Lake Kussharo, Hokkaido in 2009.

The exterior of Kussharo Genya Youth Hostel. If you intend to travel to Hokkaido, it’s best to rent a car and drive!

The common living and dining area of the guest house.

The only thing I dislike about the hostel is the lack of private bath and the common bath was Japanese style. But the daily breakfast and dinner, as well as the warm hospitality of the hostel owners, made the stay memorable.

I will be staying in some interesting B&Bs at Italy too and I am looking forward to it!
