I applaud the decision to show real women on the runway. But I prefer real women to showcase clothes that real women should wear.

So, I don’t quite agree with British designer Mark Fast’s idea of real women on the runway, as seen on London Fashion Week FW 2010.

I don’t think these body-hugging knits flatter the models at all. It would have been lovely if the designer could design clothes for different shapes and sizes, and dress the models according to what would be flattering on them.

With that, I conclude personally that this attempt to put plus-size models on the runway is just a half-hearted gimmick.

This is a very busy month for the fashion fraternity. After a hectic week in New York, the fashion runway has moved to London!

Miss Glitzy picked out some of her favourite shows from the LFW.

Matthew Williamson has toned down his bohemian style and bright colours and opted for something more sleek and shiny. Miss Glitzy loves the polished look and the strong details. The series is the matured and sophisticated  interpretation of Spring/Summer!

lfw2aRoksanda Ilincic: This is the first time Miss Glitzy has heard of this Eastern European designer. Her collection was a little bit slinky, dark and vampish. But Miss Glitzy really wants to comment on the feather shoes! Not sure how wearable such shoes are but they look so dramatic and exotic!

lfw3

Paul Smith: His is a more typical quirky British style with a mish-mash of colourful prints. Yes, the style is eclectic, with a over-the-top mix of prints, patterns and colours. However Miss Glitzy appreciates how loud pieces could be so wearable and flattering!

Sass & Bide: They feel that monochromes are good for Spring/Summer next year! The patterns are quite interesting and the dress in the middle reminded Miss Glitzy of a lady warrior! For Corporate Ladies, maybe you can wear this and get “armoured” before you have a confrontational meeting! Quips aside, Miss Glitzy thinks that Sass & Bide is yet another group of designers who successfully proved that the black & white pairing is not boring at all!

And coming next is the Milan Fashion Week. Miss Glitzy already spotted the Moschino Cheap & Chic collection who looks promising. Are you getting sick of the runway photos yet? 😀
