One common theme I observed from the various shows this Fashion Week season is that makeup colours have mellowed and hair colours have gone bigger and brighter.
Several designers had showcased their models in bare or natural makeup this season. Lips fluctuated from bright red to nude or beige. Fancy eye colours observed at previous Spring/Summer shows have been retired for mauve or taupe colours. On the crowning glory though, we see a variety of colours. Mint, pink, gold, green… just name it!

The nail colour used on the models was Deborah Lippman’s “Waking up in Vegas”. The makeup and nail polish were deliberately subdued to divert all attention to the hair, and the actual Spring/Summer collection!

Is anyone getting hitched next Summer? Here are some gown inspirations I have picked from the latest New York Fashion Week.
1. Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier opted for bold colours such as blue and yellow for her gowns this year. She seemed to be pursuing a more irregular but textured feel with the blue swirl prints or twisted tulle. These couture pieces would be grand for your wedding night!

The New York Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2011 collection has just closed and it was a star-studded week with celebrities at many events and shows in their best outfits. Leighton Meester had been spotted at several events looking really good!

I haven’t really been following the New York Fashion Week religiously but one key takeaway after viewing several photo galleries is that White and Neutral will be big next year. This is possibly a nice graduation from the Tan and Camel shades that are in the rage this year.
