It’s no secret that H&M‘s first Singapore store opens on 3rd of September. As I passed by the hoarding of the store over the weekend, I caught sight of the prices. A striped maxi dress will be priced at S$17.90!

12 CommentsYes, I am conscious that I have been talking too much about H&M lately but I simply couldn’t resist. The news is that H&M is going to open a store in Singapore at Orchard Building. The store, approximately 30,000sq metres, is scheduled to open in Autumn 2011.
5 CommentsLocated inside a furniture store, Arteastiq is actually a tiny strip of space that is very well-utilised. One side of the strip is furnished with Alice-in-Wonderland like cushion chairs, tables and printed couches while the other side of the strip is the kitchen.
The tea lounge is not very crowded, although service can be slow and the “waitlist” can be intimidating. We were told to wait for half an hour but I noticed that some tables were not cleared and were unoccupied. After a second check 15 minutes later, we were given a table.
Do you expect yourself to leave this place in half an hour? No, I don’t think so. It’s too comfortable and serene here.
The tea lounge has a pretty extensive list of tea menu and if you need to be numbed in the afternoon, you can opt for the alcoholic tea drinks too.
Food-wise, there is a selection of savory small bites and desserts range was just a couple of cakes and a few flavours of ice-cream.
<< As you can tell, I blended well with the chair.
My French Rose Tea ($11), complete with sugar cubes, almond crisps and fine china. The tea was aromatic and rejuvenating. Another recommended tea that we like was the Pomelo Tea ($11), which was served in a small tea cup with pomelo puree, and some cranberries at the side.
We ordered some cakes and ice-cream. My favourite was the Apple Cake ($8), which was light, fluffy and simply divine with the thinly-sliced apples.
Verdict:
Good place to chill-out in the afternoon with a good book or good company. Now you know where to seek refuge when you are free in the afternoon.

I am referring to Faux Fur, of course.
I have been quite intrigued by the variety of fur offerings this season and some of the fur pieces seems great for our weather. But with fur, it can be a tad tricky. You either look cool and contemporary in it, or people might pass you off as a tai-tai (rich man’s wife) wannabe.

(from left) Vero Moda Shaggy Yarn Waistcoat US$42.49, AX Faux Fur Shrug US$39
I think faux fur vests are suitable for Singapore’s weather, but I am undecided about this trend. Moreover, fur pieces are a challenge to store at home.
The High Tea buffet at Hilton starts from 12pm and end at 4pm – a great place to really sit and chill and eat at your own pace. It is not as crowded as Carousel on a Saturday afternoon – so if you need a quiet place to catch up and have free flow of food. This is the place to go.

The Dessert Station
The above photo is a glimpse of the dessert station. Too bad they don’t serve macarons!

Appetizers
Miss Glitzy and friends were sorely disappointed that the hotel did not serve salmon sashimi! In terms of food variety, Carousel won hands down. Also, the noodles station expect patrons to choose the ingredients they want before handing the bowl over to the chefs for cooking. Thereafter, the patrons will add the soup (prawn noodle soup or laksa gravy) into the bowl of cooked ingredients. This is a really bizarre arrangement. Some patrons would mistake the raw ingredients on display as cooked and miss the step of passing the bowl to the chef!

Indian Apam
All in all, Hilton Hotel provides a good ambience for a cozy and relaxed gathering. The service staff were very polite and efficient and there is no long queues for food. You get to enjoy all the food you want (except for sashimi) for the whole afternoon. For $37++, Miss Glitzy reckons that it’s worth it. Oh, and UOB card holders get 15% off!

They have done it with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Madonna, Viktor and Rolf and Kylie Minogue. Now, they are at it again! With Matthew Williamson!
On April 23, H&M will be launching a new collection designed by British Designer Matthew Williamson. Here is a sneak peek of this much-anticipated collection:
Firstly, who is Matthew Williamson? The British designer, who started off at Marni and Monsoon Accessorize, launched his line in 1997 and count Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, Kate Hudson, Mischa Barton and many others as his clients! This is not the first time Williamson has collaborated with another brand. He has previously worked with Samonsite luggage, Smythson stationery and Debenhams.
Now, back to the upcoming collection at H&M. Bold patterns, bright colours and interesting details – indeed very different from the usual H&M fare. While the pricing is much higher than the usual H&M merchandise, it is considered a steal as compared to his line at Net-a-porter!
Looks like there is going to be another sell-out at H&M in this Spring. Miss Glitzy wonders if H&M is coming to Singapore after all. There was some tingling a while back when rumours had it that the Swedish brand would be landing in Singapore at ION Orchard but this news was never verified. Miss Glitzy also wonders if there would be a new collaboration when H&M really opens in Singapore – just like Kylie Minogue for Shanghai and Comme des Garçons for Tokyo!
