I think pretty yoga/workout clothes had fast became more of a “need” rather than a “want” in my list of priorities. After all, these are clothes that I have to wear on a weekly basis and it is important to look good while working out!
(That means I may not be able to do a headstand at yoga, but at least I am dressed like a pro… )
Of course, when we talk about yoga or workout clothes, Lululemon comes to mind. The brand has set up two stores here in Singapore – Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City where we can try out the beautiful tanks and leggings before making the purchase.
Are there other yoga clothing stores here in Singapore?
The short answer is yes – plenty and it all depends on your budget. Even the yoga studios here have a retail corner selling yoga clothes. I have came up with a list of 5 stores that boast beautiful and affordable yoga gear for your reference.
1) Forever 21
I have blogged about Forever21 sportswear extensively in a separate post. The stores here have sportswear corners that stock up some sports bras, tanks and tights. Prices are very affordable – ranging from about S$23 for a sports bra to S$49 for a pair of tights!
The quality, as I mentioned is decent and I love those sexy caged back sports bra! You need to be quick in spotting the designs and sizes though because the items, especially the smaller and more popular sizes get sold out very fast.
Truth to be told, I’m a changed woman. My shopping budget year-to-date has been largely blown on active wear.
If you have been seeing me rotating around the same dresses or same outfits, yes it’s because I have been distracted at regular shopping. Or rather, it has been sidelined by sportswear shopping.
I discovered yet another place for cheap and pretty sportswear recently – Forever 21! The stores here in Singapore have small sportswear sections that get refreshed regularly. The online store has tonnes of pretty and affordable stuff that call out my name all the time.. especially their pretty sports bras.
I love these strappy bras, makes you wanna train your core muscles harder so as to flaunt the bra top at yoga class: Low Impact Strappy Sports Bra (US$12.90), Low Impact Criss-cross Front Sports Bra (US$14.90)
I wished the collection could be launched a bit earlier but I guess we can always start prepping for the next winter holiday.
House of Holland and Roxy has tied up again for a winter wear capsule collection. Check out how cute these items are!
I’m sorry, H&M. But the first picture I saw of this collaboration collection was the debut outfit donned by Rihanna.
Alexander Wang x H&M Crop Top (S$79.90) and Alexander Wang x H&M leggings (S$99.90) – Wait a minute, does the price really matter??
*Gulp* Perhaps I have truly not much fashion marbles left, I really thought this get-up looked hideous!
Fortunately though, the campaign images of this collaboration did not disappoint – I mean really – the upcoming Alexander Wang x H&M collection indeed appeared fresh and exciting in the released campaign shots!
You may probably be aware by now, that Net-A-Porter has launched a new activewear category on their shopping site since July this year. Aptly named as Net-A-Sporter, this section offers stylish pieces, including those from new designers, to shoppers.
The online luxury fashion retailer had a press preview on the items available on Net-A-Sporter and I had a chance to see, touch and feel the design and quality of these sport apparel.

The motivation to work out has got to be flaunting your pretty fitness gear. I always joke about how I try to look good in my fashionable yoga gear but while on the mat, I just can’t work many of the asanas.
Anyway, I digressed. US retailer Anthropologie recently launched a new activewear section and gosh, everything on the site looks so cute!
Colourful printed leggings!
The London Olympics has officially started, and it’s time to get heady about sporty pursuits. I believe one thing I did right this year was to get started with jogging. I have never been a fan of exercising but I am glad that I got past the inertia and started running regularly.
Moreover, the fashion scene has been oozing with sporty chic recently in line with the Olympics festivities. If you have been deliberating about starting your exercise regime, I hope that these trendy sportswear would help you get into the spirit of athleticism. After all, no one wants to hit the gym or the tracks looking less than fabulous.
This pair of Krypton leggings from London-based Lucas Hugh would be sufficient to get me jogging for more than once a week!
