I was given some Maquillage (another label under Shiseido) Spring 2010 products to try out. Here’s a snap shot of what I used from Maquillage to create my Saturday look.

1. Maquillage Brow Wax in 55 – $34
2. Maquillage Eyes Creator 3D in VI767 – $69
3. Maquillage Glossy Perfect Rouge in PK203 – $49 ($52 with lip brush)

The products from Maquillage are very shimmery! For example, the Brow Wax which is like mascara for the brows, has a metallic hue. It is quite easy to apply and shape. If I want to adjust my brow shape, I will just use a tissue paper or cotton bud to swipe off the excess brow wax off my brows. The colour stayed on my brows for the entire day.

I tried to apply the Eye Palette based on the instructions at the back of the box. All the eye colours are shimmery and I found it a bit too powdery to handle. It was quite easy to make a mess and end up having too much glitter around the eyes. The colours were rather light and sheer, but very shimmery. I would personally prefer the colours to be slightly darker and with a mix of matte and shimmers. Nonetheless, I was pleased to find out that the colours stayed on my oily eyelids very well.

A photo with flash, which captured the shimmers slightly…

I really like the Maquillage lip colours! I was using the Glossy Perfect Rouge in PK203, which is in a shade of cheery bright pink! The colour is quite sheer with a subtle pinkish hue, but very shimmery and glossy. There are actually glitters inside the lip colour, which was kinda cool. I could use this anywhere without having my lip gloss on.

On a separate note I also tried on the Long Wearing Rouge, which is less sheer and glossy, but more long lasting. The lipstick did not fade for most parts of the day till I wiped it off.

The Maquillage range of products that I tried came across as very Japanese – as characterized by the light pearly shades for the eye colours and the generous use of shimmer in all the products. While I mentioned that the eye palette was a tad tricky to work with and was too glittery for my liking, I do like the brow wax and the lip colours!

I was invited to a blogger makeover workshop organised by Shiseido, to know more about their Spring 2010 colours, which will be launched on 26 February. I have to confess, that I’m usually hardly that fast in blogging. However, with the warm response on my makeover picture at Facebook, I decided to share information on Shiseido’s colours as soon as possible!

My hair was styled by the trainers from Shiseido Professional. It was curled with curling tongs (and Shiseido Professional hairspray), before being tousled with the Design Tex hairwax.

<< My hairdo reminded me fondly of my wavy bob. (I was with minimal makeup, and my eyes looked different due to new lash extensions.)

Next, my face makeover was done by a Shiseido makeup professional, using the latest colours. The theme for the eyes this season is pastel and Shiseido has introduced 5 new pastel shades for the series. You can opt to go light for the day, and add more of the colour to create a darker look for night-outs.

Tada… the complete makeover!

Brow: SMK BR704

Eye shadow: SMK VI720 Ghost (new)

Blusher: SMK RD103 Petal (new)

Lip pencil: SMK BE701

Lip gloss: SMK PK303 (new)

The makeup professional coloured my lips with the lip pencil, before adding the lip gloss! Good tip to make your lip colour lasts longer.

My goodie bag from Shiseido contained the various makeup products, including those colours that were used on me!

If you would like to get a face makeover, just drop by any Shiseido counter at major departmental stores! Shiseido makeovers are complimentary – you can make use of the opportunity to find out which palettes suit you most!

For a complete makeover (hair and makeup), you can purchase a $88 fully redeemable Shiseido voucher and receive personalised hairstyling, face makeover, A4 photo momento and an exclusive door gift! Just call Shiseido counter at Takashimaya at 6735 1039 to book your appointment. This is valid from 26 Feb to 4 Mar 2010.

H&M has released their Spring 2010 look book and while the ladies collection remained trendy and fashionable, the men’s collection looked really amazing! Printed silk scarf, structured blazers with piping, brighter colours and clever details..

And to push the envelope further, there’s a skirt and harem pants for the men!

Do you think the guys will be able to rock the pleated skirt and harem pants?

For more photos of the collection, you can refer my Facebook album.

This is a very busy month for the fashion fraternity. After a hectic week in New York, the fashion runway has moved to London!

Miss Glitzy picked out some of her favourite shows from the LFW.

Matthew Williamson has toned down his bohemian style and bright colours and opted for something more sleek and shiny. Miss Glitzy loves the polished look and the strong details. The series is the matured and sophisticated  interpretation of Spring/Summer!

lfw2aRoksanda Ilincic: This is the first time Miss Glitzy has heard of this Eastern European designer. Her collection was a little bit slinky, dark and vampish. But Miss Glitzy really wants to comment on the feather shoes! Not sure how wearable such shoes are but they look so dramatic and exotic!

Paul Smith: His is a more typical quirky British style with a mish-mash of colourful prints. Yes, the style is eclectic, with a over-the-top mix of prints, patterns and colours. However Miss Glitzy appreciates how loud pieces could be so wearable and flattering!

Sass & Bide: They feel that monochromes are good for Spring/Summer next year! The patterns are quite interesting and the dress in the middle reminded Miss Glitzy of a lady warrior! For Corporate Ladies, maybe you can wear this and get “armoured” before you have a confrontational meeting! Quips aside, Miss Glitzy thinks that Sass & Bide is yet another group of designers who successfully proved that the black & white pairing is not boring at all!

And coming next is the Milan Fashion Week. Miss Glitzy already spotted the Moschino Cheap & Chic collection who looks promising. Are you getting sick of the runway photos yet? 😀

Blue is probably the new black for Spring 2010, as seen on New York Fashion Week. You can opt to look elegant in midnight blue, casual in denim or whimsical in cobalt blue. That was one of the messages that was pretty glaring to Miss Glitzy after browsing tonnes and tonnes of photos from the runway.

A selection of some of the best Blue outfits on the runway:

Anna Sui even had metallic blue gladiator sandals at her show!

2010 Spring  fashion continues to cool down with a calm and refreshing colour. So start planning your wardrobe with blue pieces!

And as a run-up of the NYFW, Miss Glitzy’s personal favourites are Marc by Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen. The previous continues his casual, whimsical style without being overbearing with the bright colours or prints. Zac Posen, on the other hand, has some pretty unique and sleek pieces. Miss Glitzy especially loves the woven series!

What’s your favourite?

Love the purple blazer! Smart, practical yet striking. Miss Glitzy really needs a decent printed jacket for both work and play.
