Sometimes you may need to attend an event in a compulsory t-shirt that is given to all participants. How to look presentable and chic in an unflattering plain top?

All of us should learn from Gwyneth Paltrow..

Looking chic in her “Stand Up to Cancer” t-shirt with orange skirt, printed heels and cool armswag.

I recently came across this series called “Clothes I Hate with Louise Roe” where the setting is in a clothes swap party. Every participant brings in a few pieces of apparels which they would like to swap and Louise Roe, a TV presenter and fashion expert would provide style tips on how to give these clothes a new lease of life.

If you have been dreaming of owning a Balenciaga, Miu Miu or Prada bag, you are in luck.

Reebonz has launched a Style Upgrade contest on their Facebook page, and they are giving away these 3 bags. Simply upload a photo on to their Facebook application based on the following themes:

  • Tea Party: Flirty and feminine, elegant yet relaxed, this look isn’t afraid to overdose on the floral prints and pretty hues.
  • Madonna: Take a cue from the rock princess and experiment with studs, cuffs and maybe accents of skull. Don’t forget the black ‒ it’s a staple.
  • Tinsel Town: Channel the glamour of Hollywood with classic styles, timeless cuts and luxurious looks worthy of the red carpet.

Here is my photo submission featuring the Tea Party theme. Hopefully, this could serve as an inspiration for you!

Admittedly, I am a typical cautious dresser. I used to follow rules, such as how you shouldn’t wear more than 3 colours in your entire outfit. But little did I know that in a fickle fashion, rules can be broken. Colour-blocking continues to go big this year, and instead of investing in dresses or outfits that do the job for you, why don’t we mix and match with our existing acquisitions?

For the month of November, Zara’s lookbook appeared distinctly different from previous months, the highlight were the soft prints and textures, deviating away from the bright colours and colourblock trends that were constantly showcased throughout the year.

What I took away from this lookbook is there is no rule in styling. I am sure most of us have similar pieces at home, but have never thought of putting them together in this manner.

1. Play with textures

Leather+Denim+Lace: The unlikely combination of casual and formal, hard and soft (I meant the fabric), feminine and rock chic. Defiant and individualistic.

Tomorrow is Singapore’s Polling Day! Have you decided who to cast your vote for? To my non-Singaporean readers, the Singapore’s General Elections this year is the most highly contested in the nation’s history and certainly one which generated unprecedented level of national attention and debate.

Having seen and heard many candidates on the TV, Youtube, papers or at the rallies over the past couple of weeks, I have picked out three female candidates and taken the liberty to imagine what they should be wearing tomorrow. Let’s face it, the sartorial preference of female politicians should be as important as her policy recommendations and action plans. Look at how Michelle Obama was able to influence J Crew sales simply because she looked good in her outfit!

1. Tin Pei Ling (People’s Action Party)

I have been wondering how I can incorporate a nice dash of Orange in my outfits. I do not have any bright tangerine/apricot/carrot/____ (insert any other term that describes orange) apparel in my wardrobe yet but let’s see how we can mix and match them for different occasions to justify the upcoming “investment”!

1. Colour Block
